Ontario Greenbelt Project for Natural Asset Management
There is an exciting green infrastructure and natural asset opportunity for local governments in Ontario’s Greenbelt.
Already, municipalities across Canada are starting to manage their natural assets as a practical strategy to combat the challenges of aging infrastructure, rising capital and operating costs and strained service delivery.
The Municipal Natural Assets Initiative (MNAI) supports a growing number of municipalities acting on the growing evidence that natural assets provide, or could be restored to provide, services just like engineered assets, and often at lower costs. MNAI does this by offering a methodology and comprehensive support for local governments to integrate natural assets into core business and financial processes using the same systems as for engineered assets.
Now, MNAI is offering a watershed-level program in Ontario’s Greenbelt, in collaboration with the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. The project will be focused on the needs and capacities of smaller / rural local governments. Please check the following link to learn more and for the Request for Expressions of Interest.
